Temptations

I have always thought of myself as a level headed human. I have also thought of myself as one who likes my peace.. well, yesterday did prove me otherwise.
I was busy following on Kenyan politics which have definitely taken a sour turn.. There was a press conference by opposition leaders which was invaded by the current party in power.
One thing led to another and well, blows were exchanged. I laughed so hard..
The next thing I realize is that my landlady’s grandchildren are messing up with my stuff outside the house.
They had a dirty ball in my basin of clean water.
It annoys me that those are big boys and definitely know that’s wrong. I pick the ball and think of holding it.
On second thought I just throw the ball which is light to one of the boys and bam.. on his head. I warn them off.
The next moment the grandmother is knocking at my door and I open not fully knowing the mother’s boy is at the door..
Well, women drama. They want a fight. Am taken back first and I find myself in the hands of two women.

Ugh… life.. .
I just look at them and it comes as a surprise when the grandma wants to actually slap me..
She is older and definitely shorter than me. She is also pretty weak and if I make one shove of her, she might end up broken..
I ignore her daughter and turn to her..
Mathe can you peacefully let go of me..
That got her ranting mad and her daughter does hit my shoulder.
The mother throws a frail fist at me agains and am exasperated..
Luckily for her, her other daughter came and pulls her away. She is yelling crap..
Well, hello.. am left with her daughter who tries to shake me up. When she decides to go for my face, I hold her hands..
A face for a face. She did get a few slaps until she called for her husband..
My dreams of being superwoman were ruined when I saw the guy..
Taller than me.. totally build..
I just let go of the wife and ran for my life..
Well, guess who is house hunting…

Life hustles

I am darn beat. Honestly I should have been told grown up wasn’t for me. My shoulders are literally sagging..

Oh well, I could complain but I won’t.. maybe I will.. that’s the sole purpose of this post..

See, am still poor.. so no car.

I am at the backseat of a matatu.. stop hoping that it’s peaceful.. if you thought I can sleep in this bus ride, you probably should visit Kenya.

The music is blaring and I would swap my brother Sam for a moment of peace.. Honestly, take him..
The back seat is kind enough to hold five of us. Am sandwiched between my tribe people; a young girl and an old man..

Life is weird..

Their phones ring at the same time and now my life is hanging in between a girl trying so hard to speak in slay queen accent and an old man saying

‘Haroo.. haroo… herooo.. ‘ I think he means Hello, and his ears aren’t as good..

Not to add stale breaths.

Honestly, all of you.. don’t pick calls in buses.. you are making poor people’s lives miserable..
